Biden and Trump Deliver Contrasting Christmas Messages

President Biden called for unity in his Christmas message, while his successor took the opportunity to offer greetings alongside sharp criticism of his political opponents.

In a video posted on Christmas Eve to YouTube, featuring the White House adorned with festive decorations, President Joe Biden urged Americans to set aside “all the noise and everything that divides us.”

“We are here on this Earth to take care of one another, to love one another,” he said as the camera panned across brightly decorated trees and fireplaces inside the White House. “But too often, we see each other as enemies, not neighbors, not fellow Americans united together.”

President Biden encouraged Americans to take a moment of "quiet reflection" to remind themselves to treat each other with respect and decency, to “live in the light,” and to remember that unity, not division, is what truly matters. “We are truly fortunate to live in this nation,” he said.

In contrast, President-elect Donald Trump shared a Christmas greeting on Truth Social, accompanied by a photo of himself and his wife, Melania, taken on Christmas morning. Shortly afterward, Trump reposted articles and social media posts supporting his political stances on topics ranging from his nominee for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to his proposals to purchase Greenland and the Panama Canal.

The President-elect later issued a lengthier “Merry Christmas” message in two sarcastically written paragraphs. The first accused the Chinese military of “running” the Panama Canal, criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and reiterated his interest in purchasing Greenland.

“Merry Christmas to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, who is taxing his citizens far too heavily. If Canada becomes our 51st state, their taxes would be cut by over 60%,” Trump wrote.

The second paragraph targeted President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party. “Merry Christmas to the radical left crazies who have consistently sought to undermine our courts and elections,” he wrote. “They know their only chance of survival is a pardon from a man who has no idea what he’s doing.”
