President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump departed the White House together on January 20, heading to the Capitol for Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Cameras captured the two leaders, along with their spouses and vice presidents, JD Vance and Kamala Harris, leaving the White House, according to The Guardian.
Following the traditional tea ceremony marking the peaceful transfer of power, the group departed for the Capitol. The First Ladies, Jill Biden and Melania Trump, shared a limousine, as did Vice President-elect JD Vance and outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump and Biden also shared a vehicle for the journey.
The inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump is set to take place at approximately 12:00 PM on January 20 (midnight January 21, Hanoi time). Due to freezing weather conditions, the ceremony will be held indoors in the Capitol Rotunda.
The National Weather Service predicts temperatures in Washington to hover around -6°C (21°F) at midday. Trump will place his hand on two Bibles: one used by former President Abraham Lincoln during his 1861 inauguration and a second Bible gifted to him by his late mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump. These same Bibles were used during Trump’s first inauguration in 2017.
The U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club will return to perform “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” followed by Trump’s inaugural address.
In his speech, Trump is expected to outline his goals for the next four years, emphasizing themes of "unity, strength, and fairness."
