Trump Fires Multiple National Security Officials Amid Loyalty Concerns

President Donald Trump has dismissed at least six senior officials from the National Security Council (NSC), according to U.S. media reports on April 3, following warnings from a far-right activist about their alleged lack of loyalty.

Those reportedly ousted include Brian Walsh, Director of Intelligence; Thomas Boodry, Senior Director for Legislative Affairs; and David Feith, Senior Director for Technology and National Security. The shake-up comes as the White House faces continued scrutiny over its handling of classified communications, including a recent blunder involving a private Signal chat group about airstrikes in Yemen.

Sources say the firings followed a private meeting between President Trump and far-right activist Laura Loomer, during which she presented the President with what she described as a "research dossier" on disloyal staff within the NSC. Loomer later confirmed the meeting, stating she handed Trump documents calling for a "loyalty reset" to protect his "Make America Great Again" agenda.

“We regularly let people go,” President Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Wednesday. “People we don’t like, or don’t think they’re up to the job, or who are loyal to someone else.” While acknowledging Loomer as a “great patriot,” Trump insisted her involvement was limited. “She makes recommendations like many others do. I listen to a lot of people. Then I make my own decisions.”

Loomer, 31, is known for promoting conspiracy theories—including the false claim that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were an “inside job.” She is one of Trump’s most vocal supporters in far-right circles.

The NSC has declined to comment on staffing matters. Spokesperson Brian Hughes told AFP, “We do not discuss personnel issues.” The firings add to the turmoil surrounding the NSC in recent weeks, after National Security Adviser Mike Waltz mistakenly added a journalist to a Signal group chat used for planning U.S. strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen. Trump has defended Waltz, saying he “learned his lesson” and will not be removed from his post.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon’s acting Inspector General announced an internal investigation into Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s use of Signal to coordinate aspects of the same operation.

Trump appeared visibly irritated when pressed by reporters about the incident. “Don’t bring that up again,” he snapped.
