Trump Named to TIME’s 2025 List of the World’s 100 Most Influential People

President Donald Trump has been named one of the world’s 100 most influential people in 2025 by TIME magazine, recognized for the sweeping impact of his policies since returning to office.

Released on April 16, the TIME 100 list features global political leaders, tech entrepreneurs, business moguls, and entertainment icons whose influence shaped the world over the past year.

Trump was selected by veteran TIME journalist Brian Bennett, who wrote that “no modern president has wielded control over the U.S. government as forcefully” as Trump.

“Within weeks of returning to the White House, he fired prosecutors and inspectors general who could limit his power, dismissed thousands of federal employees, ended global aid programs, dismantled the Department of Education, and invoked wartime powers to deport migrants to notorious prisons in El Salvador,” Bennett wrote.

He also noted Trump’s aggressive economic moves, including “a wave of unpredictable tariffs that shook global markets and left business leaders and everyday Americans scrambling,” as well as pressure tactics on U.S. corporations and universities.

“Trump alarmed U.S. allies by floating the idea of buying Greenland and cutting off aid to Ukraine,” Bennett added.

Vice President JD Vance also made this year’s list. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was recognized by TIME health correspondent Alice Park for his influence on the U.S. healthcare system. Meanwhile, senior reporter Simon Shuster nominated tech billionaire Elon Musk—one of Trump’s closest advisors.
