Trump Unveils $5 Million ‘Golden Immigration Card’

President Donald Trump on April 4 revealed the first physical version of his long-teased “golden immigration card,” a $5 million visa option designed to attract ultra-wealthy foreigners to the U.S.

Holding the shimmering card aloft for reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump described it as “the first Trump Card” and a bold new direction for U.S. immigration policy. The card features a gold background with Trump’s portrait flanked by the Statue of Liberty and a bald eagle. His signature is printed at the bottom, alongside the number "5 million" and the initials “5M” on three corners.

“For just $5 million, you can have one,” Trump told reporters while en route to a LIV Golf event in Florida. “This is it—the Trump Card. The golden card. Pretty cool, right? Anyone want to buy one?”

The program, announced in February, is part of Trump’s push to overhaul the EB-5 immigrant investor visa system. The initiative aims to offer elite foreign investors permanent U.S. residency and work authorization, along with tax exemptions on foreign income—benefits Trump says go far beyond those offered by traditional green cards.

Unlike U.S. citizens, holders of the Trump Card would reportedly be exempt from paying taxes on overseas earnings. The administration believes the program could generate massive revenue and help ease the national debt.

“I’m the first to have one,” Trump said. “We’ll officially start issuing them in under two weeks.”

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick previously said more than 1,000 people had already registered interest in purchasing the golden visa, and estimated that over 37 million individuals globally could afford the card.

Lutnick also claimed the EB-5 program has a backlog of roughly 250,000 applicants. “If 200,000 of them bought this card for $5 million each, that’s $1 trillion in revenue to pay down the debt,” he said.

The EB-5 visa program was created by Congress in the 1990s to attract foreign capital. It historically required applicants to invest in rural or high-unemployment areas. The Trump administration’s revamped version would simplify the process and eliminate such geographic preferences.

According to U.S. Investment Immigration Association (IIUSA), more than 135,000 EB-5 visas have been granted since the program’s inception.

Whether the golden Trump Card becomes a status symbol or stirs controversy, it’s already drawing global attention—and may redefine the price of the American Dream.
